En varm hyllning till valthornistgiganten, som dessutom var en spektakulär personlighet liksom förträfflige sonen Ib vars hornton världen saknar motstycke till. En fraseringskonst och skönhet som skapat högtidsstunder i Konserthuset och annorstädes,när man suttit och väntat på berömda hornsolon,alltid så underbart skickligt och säkert förvaltade. Misstänksamheten mot experimentell och fånig musik tror jag vi gemensamt delar, vilket utgör ytterligare ett plus.

Heard (and met) Ib at 1977 IHS workshop at Hartt College in Connecticut. Ib offered a rousing rendition of the Mozart 3, if I recall correctly. Good to find this page on Wilhelm L-O, whom I had heard about but knew next-to-nothing.

I enjoyed reading about WLO's gifted approach with young students. It is a wonderful thing to be a brilliant hornist, but an even rarer quality to be able to foster that in others. That the son should have the gifts and temperament to receive and carry on such beautiful things from the father, is in a class by itself. Lovely. Thank you for making this site available and to The Hornlist for drawing my attention to it.
